I’ve seen the trend showing how partners become distant after a baby. If you’re one of the people freaked out by it, here is one reason why it can happen, and how to fix it. There is a MASSIVE disparity on things that change for the woman when a baby comes (her body, breastfeeding if that’s your choice, hormone changes, etc.), and often couples don’t know how to balance it. So women get left with most of it, and men get left alone and behind. One way you can show up for your partner is to pick up the slack when she’s breastfeeding (because that’s a literal full time job that takes her literal HOURS of her day AND night). If you’re not sure how, then let me help you out with just a few of the LONG list of things you can do: ✨Care for your partner: -Does she have fresh water? -Is there anything else she wants to drink? -Does she need medicine? Is her pain okay? -Is she hungry? Can you get her something to eat that she can easily eat with one hand? -Does she need pillows? Is she in a comfortable nursing position? How can you help her get comfortable? When all these things are handled, THEN you can get started on other things that need attention around the house: ✨Is there laundry that needs washing or folding? ✨Is there a plan for dinner? ✨Are there bottles or pump parts that need cleaning? ✨Are there other children around that need caring for? ✨ Are there dishes that need to be washed? A dishwasher that needs emptying? ✨Is there a plan for food for the week? Can a list be made for the grocery store? I could go on forever, but you hopefully get the point. If you don’t tackle these things, then she has to. On TOP of breastfeeding. On TOP of physically, mentally, and emotionally recovering from birthing an entire human being. Figuring out how to balance this ever adjusting load helped a TON with me wanting to kill my husband 🥰 Making an actual list can help too. #momlife #postpartum #lifeafterbaby #breastfeedingproblems #fairplay
