I got told this a lot because I didn’t express or give my babies bottles. I didn’t want to leave them and was happy breastfeeding so it just felt like a huge hassle. I had friends who spent weeks trying every different sort of bottle teat, getting dad to feed and getting really worked up because their baby wouldn’t take a bottle “just in case”. A few people suggested I was being selfish not trying to give my baby a bottle and that it could do her harm. But I’m calling that as utter rubbish! 💩 In the very unlikely event that you as an exclusively breastfeeding mother were ill and couldn’t be with your baby they’re not going to be left to starve to death. They can be spoon fed, cup fed, or syringe fed and realistically they will end up taking a bottle from another person at this point if needed too. Babies don’t starve themselves. And also part of why feeding rates in the UK are so low. 😞 I posted two beautiful videos of babies breastfeeding using the Yummikeys feeding necklace this week. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve had to ban over 70 people as a result of the horrendously offensive comments I’ve received on this and the other video. So many of which were from women too. I’m over replying to this rubbish. If you post offensive comments on videos of women breastfeeding I will delete them and ban you. End of. Just when you think the culture around breastfeeding is really improving weeks like this make you realise how far there is to go.
