Re sharing some of Hallie’s early signs videos for those who might find them of use. I’ve had a few messages lately from unsure parents. Hallie presented with more signs than just this video and it really is a collection of all but I will continue to share some of these content videos to help others. These videos would often get comments - “your just worrying parents” but in my mind there is no need to worry. It’s just a difference. But that moment of peace with it, is a journey in itself that you will find on the path. These videos are not to worry people but they are for the parent that already had a little gut feeling in their tummy, or already suspected something. At this early age you are likely to be told “wait and see” because a lot of these behaviours to mimic typical child development” however the big thing for me was the frequency and intensity of them. For example a baby will explore their hands as part of development, they will hold toys close to their eyes but when it’s all the time and their biggest interest something inside tells you this is different. Likewise. Lots of children struggle to wean and struggle with textures but it’s looking at it as a whole picture. A collection of traits. Children also hand flap when excited. Perfectly normal. But when the whole body is tensing and stiffened, it is involuntary and all the time that may indicate something more neurological. My best advice at this age is to keep a diary, make little recordings and show them to a health professional. We first expressed our concerns at Hallie’s 1 year health visitor appointment and Hallie was referred not because of her autistic traits but because she was still unable to sit up and scored extremely low on their questionnaire. Some autistic children will be advance in skills like talking and walking and I feel that makes it harder to be heard at this early stage. If you read this far. Have any questions, please add them in the comments and i will try to make more content or come on and chat about the early days. ❤️ Disclaimer. I’m not a health professional. Just a mum, but who wants to share and help others #autism #signsofautism #earlysignsofautism
