There is so much controversy about whether or not coffee is good for our health. In my opinion, when harvested and processed well and consumed in moderation it can offer health benefits, particularly, when other healthy eating and living habits are in place. I find that my patients use coffee as a clutch, to make up for unhealthy sleeping patterns, improper stress management and to provide frequent energy boost to get through their days. This is where we run into problems….. There are those who drink 3, 4 or even 5 cups every day. These high quantities depletes the body of nutrients and minerals, burden the kidneys and severely irritate the gut. In an already unhealthy person, coffee may not be the best thing for them. There are people such as members of my family who have a genetic mutation that makes it incredibly difficult for our body to metabolize coffee, so we stay away from it. As one of my professors always say, “there is what works for people and what what works for you”. Listen to your body and do what is best for it. If you are a coffee drinker, how do you consume it? #coffee #caffeine #caffeinication #energyboost #coffeeaddict #coffeetime #coffeetiktok #caffeineaddiction

The bitter kola has also been widely utilized in the treatment of hepatitis and other viral infections that causes chronic inflammation. I often pair it with the seeds of the papaya fruit for various infections and it works like a charm. In addition, I often add it to certain herbs to help with men’s fertility, particularly those with low sperm count and decreased sperm motility. When it comes to weight loss, this nut works similarly to the very popular weight loss drug, amphetamine. As a result, you want to be careful if you are on certain medications especially anti-hypertensive drugs. I usually don’t use it by itself in high doses but rather mix it with other herbs and a particular diet. It increases metabolism, activates fat breakdown, reduces sugar cravings, curbs appetite and increases energy levels. It’s a wonder nut but shouldn’t be abused as it can cause side effects. As always, check in with your practitioner first. #healingherbs #herbs #herbal #plantmedicine #medicine #weightloss #weight #botanical #plants

Anxiety shows up differently for everyone and can sometimes be crippling for some people. I find that most patients are not even aware that they are anxious because they think anxiety means panic attacks. But it’s not. It can be as subtle as overworking, people pleasing or always comparing yourself to others. A balanced mental health is the most important aspect of wellness so if you find yourself feeling unsettled with yourself, take the time to sit with it and figure out why. Please don’t be afraid to ask for help if you think you need it. Contrary to what you may think, asking for help is a sign of strength. If you are a reader, I will leave the titles of some books that my patients have found helpful. It’s a good place to start. What are some books that have helped your mental health? #anxiety #anxietyrelief #anxious #anxietyawareness #mentalhealth #panicattack #anxietydisorder

Botanically known as Paullinia pinnata L, tuantini is a tropical African herb whose medicinal and spiritual use spans centuries. Every part of it has some medicinal use but the flowers/ pod/ fruits has been well shown to support men’s sexual wellness. It is rich in phenolic compounds which aids blood flow to the genital area. Because circulation is increased, the blood brings with it antioxidants and other anti-inflammatory substances that heal the vessels in that area. It also boosts the motility, health and quantity of sperm cells and hence supports fertility in men. When combined with a proper diet, effects are noticed within a week of ingesting. Some research has shown it’s ability to increase testosterone levels and also shrink the prostate in individuals with BPH and other prostrate issues. Other health benefits includes: - Cardio-metabolic health: Because it supports circulation and blood flow throughout the body, it benefits the heart and also brain. - Decreases the risk of end organ tissue damage from diabetes (vision problems, neuropathy, slow healing wounds etc ). - Reduces joint pain and helps preserve bone tissue - Benefits skin and other connective tissues As always, make sure you are under the supervision of a qualified practitioner before you ingest this herb. I find that modification in medication dose is usually warranted after a few weeks. #healingherbs #herbalmedicine #plants #medicinalplant #health #herbal
