There is a ton of conflicting info on how to implement macros to hit your weight loss goals. Let’s keep things simple. The best nutrition plan for you is one that you can stick to…CONSISTENTLY. If you don’t have experience with losing weight the best thing you can do is start off easy. Some people start off at maintenance calories so we can get to a point where they are eating a consistent amount of calories and protein each day. Once you start tracking food you learn real quick that some high calorie foods leave you more hungry in the long run. Step two is to get the volume of food up without raising calories. Then once that is consistent we start with a modest deficit of around 300 calories. This is to limit how hungry you feel and see how you react to a small deficit. Then we focus on hitting the protein minimum. For most people it’s harder to increase protein than it is to cut calories. From there we have a good foundation and starting point on how much you will be able to cut and not see any negative side effects. Remember that your calorie goal is an average. So you can bank calories for the weekend or the end of the day if you know that you are going to indulge a bit.
