Bricking up the kitchen window 🧱 I didn’t want my house to be just another house with a poorly matched bricked up window, so I was feeling the pressure on this project. I’ve been storing 300 of the original house bricks which I saved from the old extension demolition just for this project. With perfectly matching bricks, the only thing that could go wrong is my workmanship! And I’ve never done it before. Obviously removing a window makes your house vulnerable, so I was determined to get it bricked up in record time. (Whilst still doing a good job). It took me 3 days to do the internal and external brickwork, and they were long days filled with lots of step aerobics. I hope you enjoyed this mini series and if you’re planning a project like this, 100% buy cavity buttons, not PIR board. It’s just too fiddly for this type of job. #ukhomerenovation #homerenovation #ukhome #bricklaying #brickbybrick #kitchen #renovation #renovationproject #reno #homesoftiktok

My first window removal and brick up project 🧱 This project has been on my mind since I demolished the old house extension in 2022. It’s been nagging at the back of my mind, like an impending visit to the dentist. Every time I would look at the window, it would remind me of the work ahead. So when it came to actually removing the window, it was a relief to get started. The truth is I had already removed the window 100s of times in my head before even picking up the drill. I knew the process would be simple and safe enough if I could ensure the acro and strong boy was installed correctly. My only worry when the project had started was how fast I could finish it. I needed to get it bricked up quickly so I could once again secure my home. #homerenovation #diyhomerenovation #diy #renovation #homeimprovement #windowremoval #renovationprogress #kitchendiner #kitchenextension #dıyproject #ukhome #ukhomerenovation

I’ve always stayed well away from plumbing 💧 Thats because any small mistakes can cause a lot of damage. It wasn’t until I was show some of the process and techniques by a professional that I felt I had enough confidence to attempt it myself. Im also living in a shell of a house so I dont have any expensive floors or furniture to ruin if we did have a leak. Beleive it or not but this is my first 15mm T joint. Since then I’ve done a few, in 22mm also. Im still struggling to get clean good looking joints. Im still working out how to get the right temperature from my gas bottle, seems to be too hot or too cold. The main thing is, its been a few weeks since I did this, the system is at full pressure and no leaks 💪🏼 #homerenovation #renovation #renovationproject #ukhome #ukhomerenovation #homesoftiktok #diy #plumbing

Everyone doing a renovation will have to make this decision at some point… ‘Leave it the same, or make it better?’ When something ‘works’, but it’s not pretty, even if it won’t be seen, should it be fixed? replaced or rebuilt? I’ve always opted to rebuild any parts of the house that doesn’t fit my expectations. But that’s just me 🤷🏼♂️ Would you have repaired this wall? Also what is that metal I removed from the wall? The house is really starting to take shape. Every day I get closer to have the kitchen of my dreams. #renovation #renovationhouse #renovations #diy #homerenovation #kitchen #bricklaying #repair #renovationprogress #ukhouse #homeimprovement
