Night wakings and feedings look like this and then repeated every 2 hours.. but actually every hour bc he be sleeping through the entire process the first hour and is a hungry boy! The sleep deprivation is kicking in this second week after riding a high on the first week. It is absolutely exhausting. But the little coos and smiles in between just melt your heart and make it so worth it! I do have an oversupply so i try not to pump if i can avoid but this night i was super engorged and didn’t want to risk it. Youll notice i slide diapers under my babe. I try to do this method as often as i can to protect his spine so hes not constantly being lifted. I also have multiple bottles of milk in the fridge because i combine my fresh milk with the cold milk once it is chilled to avoid spoilage. Currently we dont use a bottle so i wake my husband to burp and swaddle so i can get back to resting. When the dreamy “we brought home a baby” energy wears off at 3 weeks, the night shifts start to feel a lot longer, more tense, and somewhat anxiety filled. All of a sudden we arent as fast to bounce up when he wakes, we’re rock paper scissoring who is going to change the diaper to start the night feed routine. Not going to lie we’re both struggling to keep our eyes and body awake and alert. Yes, i fell asleep in the mid roll out of bed position and my shoulder hated me for it. NO ONE FREAK OUT.. it was an accient. One that i (caleb) will never live down. For the milk producing crowd, i apologize for this traumatizing content as I know spilt milk is trult a painful endeavor. The purpose of this video was to show you how we bag milk and in efforts there was a true sacrifice, may the golden juice from my wife’s golden balloons rest in peace. The dog ended up licking it up anyway so technically it wasnt a waste. anyway, in short, wifey has been slowly building a freezer supply mainly off her haaka. At the end of the day I would bag the day’s milk in increments of 5oz. We do 5 oz bc it’s an avg of what our first drank when we started using the stash (around 5/6 months). You can, of course freeze them in increments of whatever you want! The party trick is to seal the bag 90% of the way, and then squeeze the breastmilk to the top of the bag very slowly until there’s no more air and then you di the final seal. This way the bag lays flat in the freezer and youre able to stack them easier or do what most do and make “bricks” which are just these breast milk bags combined in a gallon size ziploc. Traumaaatiicccc. 6PM my OB told me cervidal through the night and pitocin in morning. Then there was the shift to my night nurses and idk who made the call but she started me pitocin at 11:30PM bc i wasnt progressing quick enough? When the contractions started 20 mins in, they hit me like a train at 129mph. kept telling me that this was “early labor” which messed with my head bc i was like how the heck am i going to survive active labor and transition. I couldn’t sit all night because it felt like sitting on razors. I paced the room for 9 hours and breathed through every contraction in low hums. Literal thousands of comments on my birth video mentioning how lucky i was to be able to eat during birth! I am here to tell you, you can too! You have to advocate for yourself and weigh the risks in your situation. WHY the eating ban in the first place? It was based on the long-held theory that food or acid in the digestive tract might be aspirated if you need emergency anesthesia. But not only are you unlikely to need such anesthesia, which is no longer used for Cesareans, studies have also shown the aspiration rate to be minuscule. While i did eat, i tried to keep my snacks or meals “lighter” to avoid nausea and also be lighter if i did have to throw it back up. I wouldnt be as worried if he wasn’t measuring bigger and a little ahead the first two trimesters. I just hope he is okay and that maybe his current position is what is making him appear smaller. Technically i am just a little behind in thr average window of fundal height but the fact the measurement showed no growth since 29weeks is a little alarming. My doc is so kind and reassuring me that it isnt something she is super concerned, but with IVF patients she wants to be very conservative and monitoring more closely so she is having me come back for ultrasound tomorrow.
