Many tips to help c-section recovery are really simple! Planning for and prioritising self-care in the first days and weeks can make a difference to your health and wellbeing for years to come so it’s worth considering if you’re pregnant or a new mum 1. Rest allows your body to use energy reserves to start the healing process 2. Hydration is essential for many systems in the body to function efficiently, and improves the quality of your scar tissue as it forms 3. Diaphragmatic breathing activates the core and pelvic floor muscles, eases anxiety and tension, improves sleep quality and helps to gently mobilise your scar improving blood flow and minimising adhesions and tightness #csectionscar #csectionmom #csectionbirth #csectionscarmassage #csectionrecovery #postpartum #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy

Mama, do you sometimes pee a little when you laugh, sneeze or dance? Do you wear pads or panty liners because of this? Did you know that if you work out your pelvic floor, this can change! @Elitone | Kegel Exerciser is the first wearable incontinence treatment available in the US that strengthens your pelvic floor. It only takes 20 minutes a day and the exercises are done for you!! Elitone is comfortable, super easy to set up and use and non invasive, so that means you can go about your day uninterrupted, living your best life while you tone your pelvic floor! . 1/3 of women leak and I know first hand how uncomfortable and embarrassing it is. Elitone is proven 95% effective and for my fellow new mamas, you can start using it as soon as 6 weeks after childbirth. Prolapse refers to the movement of one or more of your pelvic organs. This is very common, and statistics tell us up to 1 in 2 women will experience in her lifetime. This is a graded diagnosis and most will be very mild and may even be without symptoms. Pregnancy and birth increases your risk of prolapse due to the increase in intraabdominal pressure and strain on the pelvic floor. Pelvic floor exercises can be very effective at helping to support the pelvic organs and reduce symptoms of prolapse #postpartum #newmum #newbaby #pelvicfloorexercises #kegals #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #physiotherapy #postpartumexercise #onthisday

4 things about pain: 1. it’s not just a symptom, it’s an experience 2. it’s not always physical 3. it doesn’t exist until the brain says it does 4. it sucks, but it’s necessary for survival **ALSO, it’s not a physical therapist’s job to “fix” pain. Your pelvic floor muscles are working behind the scenes all day long, so its important to train them to work in all kinds of positions. BUT some poor postures will impact how well you can connect with them, like this example of slouching on the sofa where the diaphragm and pelvis are poorly aligned. If you’re doing daily kegals but not getting results, it might be because you’re not really engaging that effectively with your pelvic floor muscles and changing your positions to include positions and movements you’re using regularly in daily life could make a big difference #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicfloor #kegals #postpartumexercise #sixweekcheckup #newbaby #physio #womenshealth

Yes, I do get a little triggered, only because I want people to know it is not normal to live like this. Your health and post partum health matters. It is not something that is discussed enough. Here are some FUNCTIONAL stretches to help out the pelvic floor! In this video we’re thinking not only about the hips, but about everything that affects the pelvic girdle and intrabdominal pressure. Obviously if you feel groin pinching, low back pain, SI joint pain, etc. while doing some of these, there may be an orthopedic issue at play, which is what pelvic floor PT’s treat! Try these out and let me know how it goes ❤️ #pelvicfloorstretches#pelvicfloorexercises#pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy
